Although the symbols differ, the most common one is paper in most of the countries. Paper is easy to tear and burn thus the meaning of the second anniversary symbol is rather clear - the family life is still very unstable.

In the East one may watch Chinese ritual dances in some paper clothes. On the anniversary eve some red paper clothes symbolising a hen and a rooster are made for the spouses. Red is the colour of love and happiness. Besides the wife and the husband put on paper masks. In the evening the guests gather round a fire. The spouses dressed in their paper costumes start their dance. Suddenly one more rooster dressed in black turns up. He is one of the invited guests. The black rooster tries to defeat the red one which never happens since the black rooster symbolises the hardships and difficulties the family can face. The red rooster always win. After all the black clothes are burnt in the fire and the guests are invited inside to enjoy a delicious feast the main dish of which is the rice with chicken.
In Byzantium the wife and the husband made paper dolls. They filled them with the notes about the spouse`s good and bad traits. It was considered that after two years of marriage the spouses can objectively assess each other. The young spouses exchanged their dolls and at the end of the celebration they took out the notes and read them aloud. The guests then discussed what had been right and what had been exaggerated. After the guests were to give a good piece of advice. It is interesting that the spouses` parents couldn`t take part in the discussion.
In Greece the wedding money dance is danced on the second wedding anniversary. While dancing the guests fix the banknotes onto the spouses` clothes.
On the anniversary table there should be paper napkins. Besides it can be a good idea to put a pencil and a piece of paper next to every guest`s plate. During the celebration the guests could write their wishes to the family down and draws a picture on the other side of the sheet pf paper given. The spouses could decorate a home tree with them!
So, the guests can present the family with some paper things or banknotes while the spouses can exchange love letters!!!
